Non-Emergency Medical Transport

Do you need a ride to the doctor?

MTA provides Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) service to residents of Nicholas County.  This service is for people qualified for Medicaid benefits who do not have transportation to or from medical appointments. LogistiCare is the company contracted by WVDHHR to oversee the NEMT program.

Passengers needing non-emergency medical transportation MUST call LogistiCare to schedule their transportation needs.  Call 1-844-549-8353 for transportation.  If MTA is able to provide transportation for that date, you will be contacted by MTA to confirm the appointment and receive your pick-up time.

If you would like to use MTA for your non-emergency medical transportation needs, you can call MTA prior to making your doctor's appointment to find out what dates are available.  This will help reduce cancellations and rescheduling of medical trips.

Important Information

MTA does not provide emergency transportation services.  MTA cannot transport patients who require advanced life support or basic life support.  Patients suffering from serious injury, bleeding, mental impairment or other life-threatening symptoms need to contact their local ambulance service.

Non-emergency medical transportation is for medical visits only.  MTA cannot transport patients to or from stores while on NEMT service.  Pharmacy stops must be preapproved by LogistiCare.  If a child accompanies a parent, the parent is responsible for that child at all times.  At no time is the child to be left alone or with the van driver.

Passengers who do not qualify for Medicaid can schedule non-emergency medical transportation directly with MTA if availability exists.  Private pay passengers will be required to pay for their transport in advance of service.
